This week, it’s my turn! I’m usually the interviewer of the spotlights but today, I’m taking to the stage to tell you a little bit about myself.

My name is Claire Bell and I am Practice Development Executive at Rouse Lawyers. My main areas of work are as follows:

  • Business Development;
  • Marketing; and
  • HR and Recruitment.

My Career

I am a qualified Lawyer from the UK with law firm practice management experience. I trained and qualified at the same firm I managed during my 10-year legal career back home. I have also had experience of advising trade unions in the UK and being part of in-house counsel at a sport governing body during a secondment.

My husband’s job bought me over to Australia just under 3 years ago and I have been lucky enough to find a role to suit my skill set in a similar type of law firm to the one I am used to working in.

Typical Day

A typical day at Rouse starts with an early entrance to the office to plan and organise my day. I make sure my content is ready for my social media posting and that I am across what other firms are posting / talking about in the industry. My day involves regular reviews, monitoring and analysis of the firm’s business development and marketing activities. I am working on several projects within the firm to assist with both its growth and development.

Outside Of Work

I enjoy attending the gym and I aim for 3 – 4 classes a week. I have recently completed a Spartan Sprint obstacle course race. I always consider myself a ‘tourist’ at the weekend, so I am often travelling around Queensland exploring what this beautiful country has to offer.

Why Law?

Since undertaking work experience at the age of 15 in a law firm back in the UK, I knew that a legal environment was the sort of one I wanted to work in. I knew I wanted to ultimately qualify as Lawyer. I took an opportunity to move into legal management in 2014 and since then, I have never looked back!

The Best Thing About Working At Rouse Lawyers

The best thing for me is being able to contribute my skills and expertise to assist with growth and success. I love being part of a journey of success and achievement.

Advice I Would Give Someone Who Wants To Work In A Legal Environment

Remember to always maintain a work life balance. There is no hiding from the fact that the legal industry is tough going at times it’s important to look after your wellbeing at the same time.
