This week, I interviewed our Property Paralegal, Victoria Foley to find out about her legal career so far and her role within the Firm.

Victoria’s key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Property Paralegal work with responsibility for the carriage of commercial conveyancing matters;
  • Ad hoc secretarial support to other members of the team; and
  • Ensuring all new staff are inducted fully into the workings of the Firm.

Victoria went to Boarding School and spent her holidays living with her Grandparents. Her Grandpa was a retired Judge. This was Victoria’s first exposure to the Legal industry. After achieving the top result in her Year 12 Legal Studies class, she went to study Law and International Relations at University. Initially, full-time but then part time so she could work alongside her studies as a legal secretary. Victoria has extensive experience of working in a large international firm, mid-tier and boutique firms before starting with Rouse.

Victoria’s typical working days starts by arriving before everyone else in the office to gain some valuable quiet time to plan her day. After considering her key date calendar, emails, and the firm’s task allocation system her day’s activities are then sorted into her to do list for the day ahead.

Victoria’s days are certainly getting busier and busier after a post-covid boom in the property market particularly in conveyancing work.

I asked Victoria the following:

What qualities do you think makes a good legal support person?

  • A clear understanding of their role and responsibilities.
  • A high level of organisation.
  • The ability to form good working relationships

What is the best thing about working at Rouse Lawyers?

The team, the people, and the culture.

What advice would you give someone who wants to work in a legal environment?

“Don’t take things to heart”.

Outside of work, Victoria is a keen runner, gym goer and cryptocurrency investor.

Victoria has recently been on a personal health and wellbeing journey which has provided her with several benefits to her lifestyle. She is a firm believer that a healthy body equals a healthy mind.
